Sculpture

My purpose is to discover ways of entering the stone, to reveal the personality beyond the hard exterior. Yet I must retain the rugged spirit. The stone guides me as I enter the raw patina, as I pierce the crust. My goal is to honor the character of the stone. I almost listen to the layers as I enter. I have to balance my tools with the stones' demand, so that I do not harm the essence.
